Introduction

I’ve received numerous comments about how some people find it confusing to follow the right and left directions in my videos. It’s really quite simple. This is my right and this is my left. The best way to follow along is to place your phone next to your mirror as you tie your tie and mirror my movements exactly.

Setting Up

When I say to move something to the right and it goes this way, it should look the same in your mirror. Just copy my actions exactly, and it will work perfectly. Some people overcomplicate things by flipping the directions, but there’s no need. Simply place the phone next to the mirror and mimic my actions.

The Windsor Knot

Today, I’m going to demonstrate how to tie a classic Windsor knot. If you want to follow along, position your phone next to the mirror, and it will make perfect sense. The Windsor knot is a staple in any wardrobe, known for its symmetrical and formal appearance.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Starting Position: Begin with the front of the tie facing forwards and the wide end about fingertip length from the narrow end.
  2. First Move: Cross the wide end over the narrow end.
  3. Second Move: Bring the wide end up through the neck hole from underneath.
  4. Third Move: Cross it underneath and to the right.
  5. Fourth Move: Bring it back down through the neck hole to the left side.
  6. Fifth Move: Cross it around the front from left to right.
  7. Sixth Move: Bring it up through the neck hole from underneath again.
  8. Final Move: Pull it down through the loop you created in the front.

Adjusting the Knot

To finish, slide the knot up towards your collar to adjust it. You can choose to add a dimple or not; it’s entirely optional. Ensure the end of the blade points right at the belt buckle for the perfect length.

Conclusion

And there you have it—the classic Windsor knot. Follow these steps with your phone next to the mirror, and it will be much easier to grasp. I hope this helps. See you next time!
